Several years ago I put this together using a simple (read cheap) 15″ diameter table from a craft shop and spare things from around the house.
Remember that any fabric will do – towels, pillowcases, sheets, scarves, ribbons, coats – you name it!

Hope it gives you ideas for creating your own pretty table settings, especially if it’s just you!
start by covering your table – this cloth is a spare green cotton velvet curtain from an import store
add a placemat if you want some contrast — or a napkin, towel, scarf, group of ties — the sky’s your limit!
then add a candle…
… or 3 candles, but keep the number an odd number as it looks better
then add a spring of something from the garden or grocery, depending on what’s available & the season
add a contrasting ornament (bow, any favorite object) amongst the greens
a cuppa looks nice in this setting, even if I broke the rule of uneven numbers by using 2 …
a cuppa can look romantic by candlelight, and it doesn’t matter if it’s for one or one hundred…
all the basics & ready to eat!
different china’s easy if you like going to discount places like tjmaxx or marshall’s
a glass coffee table can look festive – grab a napkin or hanky, add candles & a sprig of holly or evergreen – whatever’s to hand
