Although I’m still wishing I were somewhere else, totally at my leisure to ignore the world, or not, it’s too much fun reading everyone’s blogs, and perhaps I’d better make some sort of effort toward contributing. Herewith, mine humble offering . . .
Scones and the cutting table…….very interesting, and the pics are making me a little peckish. It was an early start today, so even though it’s just after 8am it’s 3 hours since I ate breakfast 😋

I wish…. tho it was quieter than a usual Saturday. I stunk out station and had mackerel for elevensies! Looking forward to seeing what the postie brings 😃

I’ve never had much success making scones, though to be fair I’ve not tried much! I do like eating them though with jam and cream, there is sometimes a discussion over here on whether the Devon way or the Cornish way is right, one is jam on top of cream, the other is cream on top of jam, I prefer the latter 🙂

I’m pleading ignorance, as this is the land of much puffy sliced white bread & sweet dessert scones loaded with icing sugar & nary a bit of cream or jam in sight.
I’ve eaten plain scones made by a British cook, and they were absolutely heavenly. So much so I don’t remember what I put on them, nor the order.
I can tell you cream over here ain’t what cream is over there, and suspect the same with jams. So sad! 😂

Being English I can’t possibly choose between scones and bread because they would be totally different things. Scones, preferably warm, must be slathered with a mixture of butter, thick cream, preferably Cornish, and a big dollop of strawberry jam all downed with a huge pot of tea. Cheese scones are also popular but are not generally eaten with meals – well, not by me anyway 😉

Curious about scones at meals… but not that I think about it that’s what I remember from my reading – always with tea, but not much else… whereas here they’re often served with anything.
Hope I’m not walking into trouble with that – not generally, folks, just in my humble & stunted experience!
