Yes, that scale arrived in the kitchen last night, and I just couldn’t resist trying it out today.

Success! Now I know what went wrong with my previous 3 versions: A bit too much flour, and not nearly enough marg.

Moral: Get thee a scale, and weigh out those ingredients instead of converting a recipe. (Or get a better method of converting than I did!)

      Saw your luscious recipe for fruit cake the other day… but cannot get tubs of peel or mixed spice here. 😦 Technically still don’t have proper rock buns either, just using raisins & ginger/cinnamon. But doing much better than before. xxx

        1. Just tried to search online & couldn’t locate anything easily – all info is for shipping to other countries, not receiving a tin of grocer spices. Thank you for thinking of it, and for asking about shipping! Will ask next time the snow-sleet-freezing rain stops long enough for me to get to my post office. xxxx

        2. Did a bit more searching & discovered something similar (our pumpkin pie spice, which is a mix of about the same spices), and several recipes for mixing my own mixed spice. Would you believe I **had** pumpkin pie spice, and tossed it when I did my last annual spice clear out?! Agh!! Anyway, Lovely, don’t worry about sending any, but I thank you **very much** for thinking of it! xxxxx
